This album is a bold reinvention of the very first solo project I ever had the courage to create as a producer and songwriter. My name is Law Hilson—Lawrence Hilson—but most people know me simply as Law (תורה).
The original The Long Play was completed in 2007, during a raw, hungry era when local artists like us were chasing purpose more than polish. We recorded everywhere—bedrooms, basements, borrowed studios—anywhere we could catch a session. Music wasn’t scheduled; it was lived. As one of the neighborhood producers, I had a rare advantage: I understood where everybody’s sound belonged. I could hear how voices, textures, and personalities would lock together before the record button was even pressed.
I had a vision—to bring together the artists who truly gelled with me, build a label identity, and shape what would become The Law Sound. That vision took nearly two years to fully realize. What came out of it was an album that carried soul, intention, and community—and one that many people still hold close to this day.
Nearly two decades later, inspiration called again.
This time, the mission wasn’t nostalgia. It was evolution.
I went back into the studio to re-ignite the soul of that project and push it forward into the future of audio entertainment. And yes—this era includes artificial intelligence. But let me be clear: this album was not made by AI. It was made by a seasoned producer with history, taste, scars, and vision—using advanced tools the same way we once used samplers, drum machines, and digital workstations.
The challenge this time was thrilling: instead of reassembling the original crew, I set out to recreate vocal avatars inspired by the original artists and build entirely new grooves around them. The goal was never imitation. The goal was preservation of soul DNA—the feeling, the intention, the emotional fingerprint—while expanding the meaning, depth, and expression of the songs in ways that weren’t possible back then.
